My name is Rowan, I’m a 20 year old with the culinary palate of a toddler and the mood swings of a pre-teen, and I’m a writer. I’ve been writing since the yonder days of middle school, and one day I want to make it onto the New York Times Bestseller list. YA Fiction is my genre and it’s what I read the most of, but I also like a few sci-fi novels and mysteries here and there. Some of my favorite novels and authors are The Raven Cycle books by Maggie Stiefvater, the All For the Game trilogy by Nora Sakavic, the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo, and The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. I’m into fantasy (high fantasy, urban fantasy, whichever fantasy you fancy), LGBTQIA+ representation, and I’m a sucker for a good “found family” story. If you can name a typical YA trope, I probably love it. Sorry.
A lot of the short stories I write are based on prompts from my Creative Writing classes, or they’re ideas I came up with on my own. In my longer projects I try to include feminist themes and LGBTQIA+ characters; I feel these things are underrepresented in Young Adult Fiction especially, and I want to change that.
