All the Birds Fly South for the Winter

Inspired by a particular flock of birds I seem to always see.

A Study in Grief

So WOW, this is personal. MOM, DAD, GRANDMA, RELATIVES WHO READ THS BLOG- READ AT YOUR OWN RISK. I'M SERIOUS. I don't really know where it came from to be honest, I guess it's just something that's been on my mind lately. It's not fictional and it's written entirely from personal experience, so I'm not categorizing it as a short story. I guess it's some form of poetry? Free verse? I don't know. I just know it's personal and it could make some people cry, which is why I'M WARNING YOU MOM, DAD, ETC. AGAIN TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK. Seriously.

an angel lying in the road

I started this about two months ago. I had the idea and I knew I didn't want to let it get away from me, so I wrote the first few lines down just to have them, but the rest took a while for me to write. I don't consider this a short story just because of the format I wrote it in. I think it's more free-verse poetry, but I suck at poetry. Anyway I'm glad it's finally done and I'm satisfied with the finished product.

The Boy Who Couldn’t Hold His Breath Underwater

A vast change in tone from my last post. The title for this is taken from the Norwegian TV drama Skam, as the story is inspired by a dream I had about some characters from the show. The names and everything else are my own. This has been in my head for a while since I had the dream a couple weeks ago, and I felt like I needed to get it out. I put a trigger warning in the tags because it is a bit dark.

Encounters with Old Gods

This is an idea I came up with last night, kind of on the fly. I'm sure my inspiration came from something I saw or read once, but it's a short little piece about the Greek Olympian gods in a modern setting, what I think they would be doing if they were to be real people in a real city. I like how this one turned out and I'm kinda proud of it at the moment.

Didn’t You Know?

I started this like a month ago and I'm tired of trying to write it so I kind of just did whatever with the ending, but I liked the premise of it. If I didn't post it now it was never gonna get finished, so here it is.

Folk, The Prologue

This is the beginning of a much older project I started a few years ago, and reading back on it I was actually kind of laughing at myself because I can't take it seriously. I don't know if I have quite the touch for fantasy that I used to, or maybe it's just all been done before. But I only got about 20 pages into this one before I abandoned it, and it's been sitting in my docs untouched for years. I went back and edited a few things just for fun, and I figured I'd share this.

Across A Thousand Oceans Excerpt

It's been a month since I posted anything, so for the sake of consistency I'm posting another excerpt from a longer project I'm working on called Across A Thousand Oceans, about two princes from neighboring kingdoms. I am also working on another short story I hope to have finished and posted soon.
